TON 618 arranges a dark, veined mass around a central recess. Steps in the top, cutouts beneath it and a reflective support create an asymmetrical balance. The eye is drawn into the piece, as though matter were gathering there.

01 / Intention
The pull of the void
TON 618 takes its name from one of the most massive known black holes. Its gravitational force informs the imagination behind the design. The reference emerges in the relationship between mass and void: surfaces appear to move towards an attracting centre, while veins trace paths through the volume. A reflective support further blurs its boundaries. The console gives sculptural form to this invisible force, with a void that seems to act upon the matter around it.
02 / Materials & details
Black marble and a reflective support
White-veined black marble of the Nero Marquina type conveys the mineral depth of the design. A honed finish lets the veins cross the stepped volumes without multiplying reflections. The assembled volumes surround a concealed frame. At one end, mirror-polished stainless steel creates a clear contrast with the dark mass.
